A winery, a family. The Lavagnoli’s are a unique family, composed first of all by Carlo, who inherited the family vineyards, his wife Miriam and their sons Alberto and Andrea.

Interview to Lavagnoli Family

When did your activity begin?

Carlo: After so many years of experience, 1999 was the year in which we decided to dare. I have to be honest, it was my wife who gave me strength and courage to dare, she, by my side, has lead the company with me and believed in this project first.This was already my field, while my wife Miriam, who used to do another job, welcomed and believed in my project with great determination. Miriam, what meant for you starting to work in the farmland?Before I met my husband, I used to work in a factory. When I met him, my friends made fun of me because "my boyfriend had the fields". It was an unpopular job for the times, and even more for a woman, but I decided to join him in this business. At first I lived this choice with a little shame, but once I arrived at the crossroad, I had no doubts ... and instinct has proved me right.

How did you come to the way of production and collection that today characterizes you?

We have been among the first in the area to choose to make a collection of quality bunches, dividing the best harvested crop in the best way. At first it was difficult because the neighbors gave us suspicious looks.

Would you tell us a significant anecdote about your story?

Miriam: Some time ago, one day my father in law came to the vineyard. When he saw how we wanted to prune the plants, he got so angry that he didn’t come back for many days. We did not give up. We had to fight to make them understand our working methods, but in the end ... one morning, my father in law arrived at the vineyard and told me: "what do we have to do today?". He was resigned and was ready to work according to our criteria! Your children are also actively involved in the company ...Andrea, the eldest son, says he feels a bit as the revenge's son. It's important for him to do well, he feels a great deal of responsibility for us. Indeed he continues to study and getting updates to work in the vineyard better and better. Alberto has just started to work in the company and is still “sniffing the environment”. It seems he likes it ... A family that works together, in short. How do you always keep the harmony?Simple, three are the keywords: division of the tasks, shared planning and the last word always to mom!
